I am going to disagree here. While it would be great if the AI would do better about getting people help at the same time it isn't necessarily the AIs fault. These people are using a tool in a way that it is not designed to be used. An AI is not actually intelligent. You are effectively passing it a series of numbers and it does complex math based on past data to guess what it thinks the next word in a sentence should be based on the numbers the sentence you sent was converted into. I ts a tool that is great at analyzing data and helping with certain tasks. But here it is being asked to be a friend and/or a therapist. It is the same as trying to screw in a nail with a hammer. You could argue AI companies need to be more honest and less sensationalist with what they are advertising their product as. Be clear that it is not a therapist. But at the same time I don't think you can pin all the blame on them.
