Oh, I'm so glad to hear this. It's an absoute nightmare that fully 1/3 of the money in the US stock market is tied up in AI (hopefully other countries didn't gamble quite as hard as we did,) so when the AI bubble pops we're going to encounter a really bad recession and it's going to suck, but at least we won't see AGI or ASI that could SO easily end up causing the end of the world. Major world governments like the US' government are already using AI in warfare, like the complete idiots we are, so AI already has the opportunity to influence the survival of humanity. To wipe out all life on Earth, all AI would have to do is push humans into all-out nuclear war. Super easy. The Doomsday Clock is currently at 85 seconds to midnight—the closest we have EVER been to catastrophe. People don't realize that all-out nuclear war likely means the end of life on Earth as we know it. If thousands of nukes fly, those thousands of nuclear explosions would mean fires on a truly incomprehensible scale, pouring staggering quantities of carbonous dust into the atmosphere where it would hang for 10-15 years, blocking out the sun, causing global temperature drops of 10-20⁰C, with some continental areas experiencing drops of 30⁰C or more. Nuclear winter. The 10- to 15-year drop in sunlight would kill off the vast majority of plant life on land and in the oceans, causing a complete collapse of the entire food chain from the bottom up—plants, the herbivores and omnivores that eat them, and the carbivores that eat those herbivores and omnivores. Working theough this idea is how scientists came to understand that the large dinosaurs were killed off by a meteor impact. We can't just escape that sort of fate, given all-out nuclear war. That's a true apocalypse. A hard reset. Bye-bye humanity. At that point the Epstein class' bunkers can only delay the inevitable. Honestly, the best option in a scenario like that is probably to be instantly vaporized in the initial strike...
