The comment on people losing faith in themselves is so on point. GenAI seems like a cope out for people who look at any art and stay convinced they can't do it themselves, without ever trying to learn like every artist did.
And the "saving time" argument is shaky. Why don't they learn to make art themselves if they're going to prompt an AI every other day anyway? I don't think it would take a lot more time than looking for "the perfect prompt" and make the AI do a retake over and over until they get what they have on their mind, when they could have just drawn it themselves if they tried learning. Typing a prompt doesn't beat getting a replicable skill you could use however you like.
Even for basic things AI is overused, I've seen a guy in my Italian class ask ChatGPT to translate words, and type the same question for every single word, meanwhile there are multiple websites with bilingual or multilingual dictionaries where you only have to enter the word in the search bar to get the same thing, using a chatbot for that wastes more time and resources, and it's incapable of giving its sources too.
Using GAI constantly instead of your own brain is nonsense. Makes me wonder if there'll be a higher risk of premature Alzheimer's or similar conditions in people who use GAI for everything.
