It is naive to think this tech can be undone, or that it isn't even "art". The most AI "luddites" will get done is making the technology illegal to train on data that isn't owned. And once that happens, it will only be mega corporations who "legally" own the datasets that will be able to create these tools and us independent artists will be screwed. There is no world where this tech ceases to exist, and as an artists in all forms myself (privately and professionally - illustrator, graphic design, mograph, CG artists, VFX artist, photographer, cinematographer, writer, director, etc.) I have worked with this tech and found useful methodologies that actually support an artist's unique vision and workflow, not a push button machine. 3d render engines made artists out of people who don't understand how to hand-render bounce light, shadows, or diffuse falloff, but it doesn't undercut their artistic vision or choices. So what is the real issue? Truly. I'd love to understand it. Because if it is "theft" then so many people are about to be in for a rude awakening. I cannot stress this enough. With all the love I can to my fellow artists, we have to really consider the dangers of reactionary measures, and try to do what we can to combat what the real concerns are which is less opportunity, and ability to thrive in our art. Not new technology that makes the process easier.
