I'd rather AI not be a thing, but at the same time I'm pretty convinced it'll persist. It's too popular to just disappear. So if any changes are going to happen it'll have to be with the law.
Think of 'right now' as the wild west for AI. It's new and they haven't properly constrained it. Give it 100 years and you'll long since barely be able to use it for anything interesting. It's just a matter of how fast we get there. It's law we need to push.
