Maybe it's also not quite there yet to make a serious dent in profits, but it WILL look bleak... unless shit like these laws get passed. Based on how popular AI-generated porn is in general, I'd assume the impact is very real already. It's like picking the one AI regulation which if put in place - out of any one one might have come up with - maximizes human suffering the most. I find it hard to imagine a worse one. Contenders: Banning all AI medical diagnosis tools Mandating AI systems always defer to human judgment in critical decisions Banning AI-assisted suicide prevention / mental health tools Banning all AI regulation for the next 10 years Banning human labour for jobs that can be done by AI reasonably well Deciding 100% of liability rests on users of AI, not its creators no matter what Just look at what drug prohibition has gotten us. It's also the policy one would pick to maximize total human suffering more than effectively any other way to handle it. I'm all for some AI regulation, but my proposals look more like: "Report all improvements to training methodology and architecture intended to be included in next frontier model to a supervising board for evaluation of potential for critical capability gains - only commence training once greenlit" or "If some harm caused by an AI could not have been reasonably expected to be foreseen and prevented by the user, it's the companies fault"
