I'm sorry but after working for a degenerate fortune 500 corporation, management was all for automation and eliminating labor jobs in the ,late 1990s. What they failed to recognize is that many labor jobs require knowledge that would be equivalent to college degree. Much of the details require knowledge that could only be acquired by years of hard work and could never be learned in college.
The corporation that I worked for was extremely top heavy in management and maintained a slim labor force. Typical of socialists, it was the misery of a few for the benefit of the many. Yet these pinheaded, narcissistic, megalomanical, micromanagers wanted to completely rid the company of labor. They felt vulnerable to labor. I remember calculating they could eliminate 60% of management jobs and very little would change except for the payroll savings.
While there are rumors of replacing labor with a.i. robots, it will actually be the management force that gets eliminated by a.i. It's going to be quite some time before a.i. becomes intelligent enough and robotics become skilled enough to replace human labor. I believe that a.i. will all be a huge failure, although some management positions will be adequately replaced.
