While I agree that AI art shouldn't be allowed at these cons, unfortunately the thirst for gotcha content is fueling baseless AI accusations. Some just want to be the person who "catches" the artist in the act and will double down even when the evidence doesn't support it. That just creates more work for artists who are already underpaid and overworked on the business/admin side of things. I've been drawing digitally for almost 30 years (first Wacom tablet in 1998). My current niche art is whimsical wildlife, the first one painted in 2009. So yeah, old guy here. But at the recent Banff Christmas Market, I had to put up little signs that said No AI/No Photos at my booth. I also had to install a digital photo album viewer to show process video snippets. That's just more work that isn't painting. While procreate is handy for screen capture, not everybody is using an iPad to create their art. I work on a Wacom CIntiq 24HD, a desktop display with no portability. And I've been painting in Photoshop for all of my career. And still, at the market I mentioned, I overheard a couple, one saying, "No, his sign says they're not AI." to which her partner smugly said, "Whatever. Those are AI." While this specific case discussed in this video appears to be a legitimate grievance with plenty of evidence to back it up, we are now all guilty until proven innocent, by anybody who feels bored one day and wants to make the accusation. So to all of those worried about too much AI (and I'm one of them), double and triple check your evidence before accusing an artist of AI just because you don't know if it is or not. Food for thought, thanks for sharing your experience, sorry you have to deal with baseless legal issues. Enjoying your videos on art con marketing.
