I’m sure this goes without saying but ai is not the issue it is the people using ai for nefarious means. For example let’s say someone was chucking pens at other people, I don’t believe the average person would move to banning pens, rather restricting the person who threw them in the first place. As humans we didn’t stop using the internet because a few people misused it. Ai is still fairly new so the “rules” of ai have yet to be written. Ai imagine generation can have ethical sources like creative commons with the appropriate permissions as well, or an artist(s) can toss their own stuff in an ai to speed up testing certain ideas like who graph design artists do for logos. I am rather curious to learn more about the environment impacts though, that was something I never heard about. I should also clarify that I believe that ai use should be for sound boarding, an assistant not as a replacement. For example, rather then ask ai to write a whole paper, ask it to suggest relevant facts and then fact check them afterwords, then write your own paper, if ai was used it should be clarified on how as well. the art world someone can test or have the ai suggest some ideas/concepts but still try it themselves after the fact. Ai as a replacement is silly, ai as a assistant may hold fruit. I hope this makes sense and this was not posted with any animosity.
