I am neither for or against Ai, but I think part of what gave rise to it is similar to Syndrome's whole deal in The Incredibles. There were a lot of art communities that were just downright toxic, mainly elitist deviantart groups that not only wouldn't let artists who were skilled in their own right post on their groups, but would bash and insult the artists work and insult them as a person without even offering an iota of constructive criticism. They put their hearts and souls into what they made only to have their art spit on. So now with ai using what it learned from the same elitists' art skills, everyone can be an 'elite artist'.
