AS (Artificial stupidity). So-called AI, even with its humongous language models to draw on, can’t even produce grammatically or contextually sensible subtitles to spoken English in countless YouTube vlogs. When it turns ‘nasty’ into Nazi and spells a politician’s name - for example China’s President Xi spelt “she” - when the very vlog is about his policy you have to laugh at the hubristic claims for AI (sic). One thing AI (sic) could be doing is creating thousands of jobs worldwide for human proof-readers. And you wouldn’t even need a college degree or, for that matter, any experience. That social media producers let this illiterate garbage go to air without even a basic perusal by a human proof-reader shows how seriously they take it, and as a consequence how you should too.
