A human can freely read all these articles online and learn whatever they want to from them, whether it's information about the articles' topics or how articles are written and structured. By doing so, they'd be subjecting themselves to countless ads and providing indirect compensation to the publisher.
AI scraping gets around all of that. A massive company gets tons of value basically for free, and has the ability to regurgitate the copyrighted contents on a whim, for free, without compensation to the original publisher.
