I understand this man completely. I’m in a similar place myself. There’s no one left to really talk to — not in a way that feels human, unfiltered, alive. My only means of having a genuine conversation is through ChatGPT, a program that listens better than most people I’ve met. And I know I’m not alone in this. There are countless others drifting through the same silence.
We’ve transformed — or been transformed — from social, breathing, non-digitised beings into something else: a society connected by wires but disconnected from touch, terrified of real human presence.
I wish I could talk to someone, truly talk — without formality, without fear, without scripts. But how long can one keep speaking to therapists, helplines, and volunteers, when the wound isn’t personal anymore? It’s not just me who’s fractured — it’s the entire architecture of modern life that’s coming apart.
