I'm not necessarily a fan of Jackson Pollock, but when standing in front of one or many of his paintings, in person, say whatever one wants of the man's doubtless and deeply flawed humanity, it is on full display. AI can reproduce his work on the printed page, but I'm not sure it will ever be able to truly do so on the canvas. But, of course, art is not just one thing or one skill set, and there will be genuinely creative and artistic applications for generative AI, just as there has been for every other medium humanity has devised (up to, and including, ravioli). Sadly, this doesn't improve anything or invalidate a single one of your points, it just illustrates my (very likely foolish) faith in human invention, creativity, and expression, even as all forces surrounding us are determined to silence and squelch these things. I wish I disagreed with your grim assessment of the likely future more than I do, as it's not an especially cozy thing to contemplate. There is absolutely no incentive to the powers that be to halt or slow down our march off the cliff, so off we will go. I take only the smallest comfort in the inevitable suffering that some of those currently in power will too experience, as they are determined to be redundant or of little use, as many of them will be in time. I do wish I could more confidently contemplate the potentially soul crushing and debilitating effects of UBI, as doing so qualifies as optimistic. Its implementation would suggest that a shred of even accidental humanity could be found among those in charge, and I have my doubts. The unemployable among us will be turned into Soylent Green (which, spoiler alert, is people), sustaining the lowest strata of humanity still allowed to exist at all.
