Every major human advancement came from people who specialized in 1 or 2 tasks/disciplines.
Having robot specialists would gather the most useful information for a.i. which could be used for the humanoid version.
Having most your data gathered from a robot that is minimal at all trades and a master of none would be a slower process to gather useful data.
Even from a consumer standpoint I’m more likely to spend money for an expert than a clumsy humanoid.
It’s also easier to market specialist robots to targeted audiences.
