17:30 – Like the time a group of Marines outsmarted one of DARPA’s AI robots. The robot had been trained to recognize humans, but the Marines tricked it by doing somersaults, hiding in boxes, spinning in circles, etc. (The Fat Electrician did a great video on this.) In that instance, it was comical for the Marines and a little disheartening for the scientists. But in the real world, how willing are we to dismiss these inevitable AI failures with plausible deniability, just blaming the scientists and their 'flawed code'?
