I am a disabled artist. I have rheumatoid arthritis. I got it when I was 17 officially as far as the joint pain symptoms go, but I've been chronically ill since birth. To give these AI tech bros more of a perspective, cause I know they can't quantify perspective themselves since they only know how to steal it, I also have crooked fingers from my disability; this not only makes art difficult to do, it also makes it painful to do. I am currently 31, turning 32 in June after making vague attempts at trying art throughout my life without much consistency I finally took it upon myself to really teach myself how to draw this year by drawing for 1 hour every day and I have ALREADY seen results after starting in February. I have grown so much in so little time and I have noticed something by practicing: I have a natural skill at understanding shape and form that genuinely shocked and impressed me to find; after chipping away at the rock wall of my artistic ability I found some gems! The audacity of these people to say their AI tripe is for people like me to be able to draw is disgusting and insulting. There are people out there with less mobility than me but that doesn't mean that AI is all they are capable of. I have seen disabled artists create the most beautiful images. Michaelangelo became disabled because of his customers lack of understanding of his needs to be able to create from comfortable positions so as to not exacerbate and worsen his condition, and his back was permanently damaged because of them. He became deformed because of their lack of understanding. And these AI bros are no different than Michaelangelo's customers, they clearly don't understand that we can create and are still creating with our disabilities and finding our own ways to draw with our own hands or sometimes even feet or mouths etc to make images that speak from our souls. To say that people like me need it when I've seen disabled people fight tooth and nail to be able to draw or paint or reach people's souls by crying out with ours in any way we know how, that's by our own skill, is extremely wrong. And those unskilled AI generator users (I refuse to call them what I am, they don't deserve to be called artists) will never understand that soul or that beauty. AI bros don't give one shit about people like me. If they did they would give money to causes to support disabled people rather than rip it up for a machine to steal from people with actual skill and ability and let it vomit out literal garbage. Machines should be 9000% focused on learning how to detect cancer early in patients or detect early sign of dementia or Alzheimer's, solutions for people with cerebral palsy or incontinence issues to be able to live with ample dignity and independence, etc not trying to steal the hearts and souls of humans to reach other hearts and souls of humanity. And tbh it shows how void of humanity these people truly are that this is what they've chosen to largely use these machines for. Absolutely sickening. I don't ever want to hear a tech bro talking about disability unless it is about solutions to make life better by actively looking to make living and being alive better for my fellow disabled folks or just life in general. Imagine if we used the machines to plan out better city structures or plan better road layouts, better public transit layouts for cities? To better plan out hospital locations, fire department locations, libraries etc etc etc. I know the US could use the road and public transportation planning desperately.
