When we get 30% unemployment across the developed world, and a culture hollowed out by technological transformation, we will be lucky if a bloody revolution is the result. I think it is far more likely that a totally destabilized world will nuke itself into oblivion before any superintelligent takeover and before we get the proposed universal basic income that will allow us to lay back and adopt lazy hedonism as our accepted way of life.
