But I completely disagree with the idea that AI is coming for all of us; I recommend reading "AI Snake Oil" by Arvind Narayanan and Sayash Kapoor, which offers a realist, non-alarmist perspective. The current technology is called "AI" because technology companies are calling it that for marketing purposes, and it has massive limitations because it works based on a finite dataset. For AI to take over every role, it would need to live in the real world and have real experiences to gather new data that doesn't exist yet, and it would also need to understand humans better than we do to perform those tasks properly; basically, you'd might as well just use a human. AI doom and gloom plays into the hands of technology companies, because if their tech is so good it can end the world as we know it, then they must be really fucking good at their jobs and investors should buy up boi. What AI-generated art really shows is what the general public think of art: the individualistic culture initially sprouted by Edward Bernays has turned it into a way to show the world who you are, and people don't give a shit about how to do that. Look at all the stolen content on tumblr and instagram, for example.
