The whole deal is about inflating their value in the stock market. All those Lean or Six Sigma methods are about reducing the waste or mudas for the movements across different departments within the corporate supply chain before the product arrives into the final customer. That doesn't mean the corporations will stop overproducing their crap in cheap labor countries, that just means that they were looking for ways to save losses in the operating process, the next logical step was automated A.I. robots. So, these corpos won't stop overproducing and wasting natural resources just for the matter of it. Their gold vaults are now filled in the shape of "finish goods" and "raw material". I would also add another important thing here called "Regulations". This create a susteinable way of using resources in any given country, and If you are currently working for a corporate company you'll see how much emphasis they put into their products "carbon print". It's just another way of saying, "we don't like the goverment punishing with us fines", so, most first world country companies try to behave like good kids using this facade of "Green Conscious Company", but when they move their manufacturing into poorer and corrupt countries like Mexico, China, India, etc. their government officials are easier to bribe and "regulations" won't apply as harsly over there; just a little slap in the wrist. This translates into more waste of natural resources just for the sake of getting more and more money. Basically a modern world colonization and slavery, but with HR perks! (yay!). I recommend everyone to work once in their lifetime in a manufacturing plant just to see how greedy and class disparated rich people still are.
