It took me ten years to make "competent" art. It's demeaning to say that "being gifted" makes you better than anyone else. This is complete bullshit. Sure, "gifts" can grant you a head start, but it isn't end-all-be-all. Please, if you can make art. Do it. Just like everything else in life, you have to earn it. It's that simple. And to address AI art. There isn't anything inherently wrong with it as an art form. The thing that IS wrong is the core of how it's being used and treated. AI art, at its core, should be used as a fun little thing to do when you're bored or want some inspiration. It shouldn't be a vessel to profit off of other people's work, unless you train it off a database that can either compensate the artists who give that art to the algorithm, or use the Creative Commons attribution like its intended to be used and allow the AI to train off of that. You could also train models off your OWN work and, whether people agree or not, is essentially entirely acceptable. AI art and art made by humans at the end of the day are just two mediums. It just turns out that AI art is still in its infancy, and just like any new medium, it's being used by grifters to make as much money as possible.
