I had this exact thought earlier this week,phrased a little bit differently: if we train AI exclusively on stuff man has observed experience described written about theorized about obsessed about etc., etc. and we know mental illness is widespread across the human population… Is it really such a surprise that these AI agents Turn out to have repeatable signs of mental illness. I don’t think so. Oh, look, honey my seven-year-old was playing with firecrackers and he blew off his fingers… He’s so adventurous.
