The creation of AI is an attempt to distill human behavior and knowledge into instincts. People don't understand this about AI. But even if you explain to them that AI isn't intelligence, but an imitation of instinct, they still won't understand, because they don't even really understand what instinct is. A bear doesn't rear up to appear bigger and scare you, it does so because it appears bigger and scares you without knowing it. A porcupine doesn't know that the spines on its back can injure a predator, and it doesn't want to injure it by jerking sharply toward the predator when it approaches from behind. These randomly formed neural connections are activated in appropriate situations, just like those formed over life, but they were born with the former. There is no intellectual process involved in the execution of these neurons, and none is required. AI operates in the same way, using neurons that are simply created. It's exactly like natural selection, where "learning" is actually a cycle of creating random neural connections and testing whether the desired result was created by chance. If it doesn't work, they erase it and repeat the random creation. It's a complete analogue of instinct. (Scientists often simplify and use analogies to make them understandable to non-experts and the uninitiated. This leads to enormous misunderstandings. I'm afraid that even current scientists, who were also taught simplified concepts during their training, might take these analogies literally. And they continue to spread a simplified and misleading picture of the world.)
