i'm kind of thinking that the only way the "robots taking all the jobs" thing will work is if the entire production system, from extraction of raw materials to final shipping is worked by robots not owned by anyone. This includes the robots that produce, maintain and repair robots. An entire robot society and ecosystem without financial incentive and all products free to anyone, with humans just being parasites on that mechanical subclass, kind of like H. G. Wells "The Time Machine." Might work, as long as we don't give the robots/AI emotions or self-motivation. But would innovation stop if there's no financial incentive? And how many people would live the Star Trek life of focusing on improving themselves? Would most just decline? Just a thought.
