Raw LLM Responses

So I've been on Deviantart quite a bit lately, and I've noticed something about AI "art" (Which I'll refer to as Derivations from here) which I think is worth raising. I looked through hundreds of AI Derivations, and not one of them had a comment on them. People seldom engage with it, and when they do it is never with the passion and enthusiasm that I see with actual art. In the same way that people who follow a Satnav carefully are completely lost the second it doesn't work, there is nothing to talk about with AI art, the Deriver becomes lost in the conversation. The actual meaning, the connection, the process - everything that makes it valuable is *entirely absent.* What can I ask the Deriver about that image? 'Cool what's your prompt?' On the flip side, talking to artists about their experiences is an endless well of conversation, to which the work is just the bit that pokes out over the top. I have been stuck in conversations with AI Derivers, and I have been bored to tears every time. It isn't even like they came up with the idea sometimes, because you can use AI to write your prompts for you and then get the Derivation software to produce it perfectly. I think this is why Derivers feel so passionately about their AI Derivations. There isn't anything to talk about other than the discussion of theft, because that is all there is to it. You can drown in a billion incredible pictures which ultimately say nothing, evoke nothing, and on close inspection rarely make sense. It has its place, absolutely. But it is what Guitar Hero is to someone who actually plays the guitar, and I suspect they are defensive because they know it.
