Neil has a naive, almost delusional belief that CEOs, megacorps, and capitalists are benevolent enough and beholden to the tenants of "true capitalism" and will not use AI/AGI to replace the workforce for cheaper labor.
This is not even me being a Luddite. Just given, what we've already seen, I just don't have the belief that any government that places private enterprise and profit over the well-being of its people(most capitalist countries), has the best interest to use AI purely for further scientific discoveries and bettering human life. It's also unfortunate that like Neil says, the underappreciated uses of AI aren't given the same spotlight as ChatGPT(i.e. protein folding, clinical drug trials, climate analysis, etc).
