I wish I shared in your optimism, but I don't believe it. What I'm hearing from you is that AI will replace jobs, but eventually, things will get better. The problem is we have already been through technological disruptions before. The thing that makes this disruption different is the lack of need for skilled positions to be filled. Those positions are the ones corporations are looking to replace. In the past, an auto worker would be replaced by a robotic arm, but someone needed to keep an eye on the arm to make sure it kept functioning. That expert would take college classes and know how to fix it. We are now replacing all the experts with AI. So, AI agent supervised by AI supervisor supervised by AI manager who answers to an AI-assisted direction team. What was hundreds of agents and support staff is now a team of 6, and those 6 are really at a different company that specializes in AI design. The saying "It's turtles all the way down" has not felt more true. The fact it is not just happening in the contact center industry means folks won't have another industry to move into. It is like auto workers not being able to shift to cab driving. Politicians won't save us. They'll make noises like they want to, but it isn't votes that win elections. It is money that wins political offices. If no one hears about you because the corporate algorithms didn't favor you, you can't win elections. I know it sounds bleak, but that is because it is.
