The prophecy at the end of the physics debate of truth, will be a deep wisdom of understanding that "just because we can, doesn't mean we should" and it is the inability to build a spine and ethical core around curiosity and experimentation, thinking it is always progress, that has enabled science to move from enabler, to violator. From evolution, to devolution. And that is what people are failing to recognise and react to and that is why all of us have moved from feeling like technology has opened gates, to feeling under attack. It is literally now, standing in the way of organic evolution, it is devolving us (attention, relationships, happiness, hope, emotional control issues from addiction) and we are woefully failing to see what we have done. It is like an atom bomb going off in slow motion, us all watching it tear through everyones lives in slow motion and because it is so slow, we can't truly react to it and see the problem. But it is deadly, it already destroying peoples lives and futures, and it absolutely a weapon of war (as we see with impositions of digital ID and enabling of fascist dictatorship). I hope and pray we wake up soon the reality that is abundantly clear in our faces. The law, what goes up, must come down, has been lost at the core of science. We think we are making things better, but at the expense of what it fundamentally means to be human. And that WILL ricochet. It is the law of cause and effect. There is no avoiding it. Just how quickly we can wake up to our mistake to not mitigate and form global bodies to implement the technology, instead of making it a free for all wild west, could deter the explosion. But if we don't, it will go down as the greatest error of humanity in perhaps thousands of years. Those who survive it (and sadly i don't believe many will), will carry that lesson into the future and hopefully use it, and physics based science, in a much more mature, ethical and balanced way. May god help those who must live and may survive through this horrific ongoing human experiment and technological colonialism of humanity itself. We have failed medical ethics (do no harm). We have failed scientific ethics (Beneficence (do good, maximize benefits), Non-Maleficence (do no harm), Autonomy (respect for informed choice, especially regarding human participants), Justice (fairness in distribution of risks and benefits). And we are failing each other by gaslighting ourselves at the severity of what we face as a species and how divided we are by petty issues of demographic differences.
