Without humans, AI will have no source of information. This is the topic that the classic Star Trek: The Motion Picture tackled. VEGR (the Voyager spacecraft) learned all there was to learn in the universe, but it was unable to think beyond it's confines. It needed "human" thought; our ability to think beyond. AI will always encounter a roadblock.
On the other hand, we ourselves could be considered AI since we are the result of a "creator."
