the LLM idea will never work, because true intelligence is based on meaning, not on words or symbols. an intelligent person reads words, but they then think what it means, and meaning is beyond the realm of words. from understanding the meaning, we then also work with the meaning, and eventually we return to words. but the LLM just looks at words as symbols without meaning, and just looks for sequence patterns of these symbols in the past. this will NEVER work out. this is the big difference between young people eg schoolkids, undergraduates, versus older people. young people are preoccupied by words, what people have said, what books say. but the older person has a disregard and contempt for what is said, and bases their ideas on experience. they take with a pinch of salt what experts say, and think about the meaning of things to form their decisions. at school, there were plenty of students who were basically stupid. but with adults, you'll find that all adults are intelligent, its because adults have life experience, where they form decisions based on experience, what you might call experiential wisdom, which isnt word based. but is based on the meanings of things which have happened. whereas the child thinks entirely in terms of words, where virtually everything that kids say is just parrotting something they heard someone else say, eg all their jokes are ones they heard. chatbots are just glorified parrots. the really big problem with LLM AI is it is susceptible to russian trolling, where the russian troll farms flood the internet with divisive ideas, racist, mysoginist, religionist, you name it. and as these fake divisive comments outnumber genuine comments, the AI chatbots dutifully trawl these comments and these become the truth for the AI, and a lot of journalists and politicians form their articles and speeches using chatbots, leading to highly divisive articles and speeches. if you created trolling bots to continually say 1 + 1 = 3, and you then asked a chatbot what is 1 + 1, it will dutifully tell you 1 + 1 =3! the thing is truth is not a democracy, no matter how many people say something, this doesnt make it true. but LLM is entirely based on truth as a democracy. pattern recognition is also doomed, a famous example of the folly of pattern recognition is that the formula n * n + n + 41 is a prime number for every value of n from -40 to 39, ie for n = -40, -39, -38, -37, -36, -35, -34, -33, -32, -31, -30, -29, -28, -27, -26, -25, -24, -23, -22, -21, -20, -19, -18, -17, -16, -15, -14, -13, -12, -11, -10, -9, -8, -7, -6, -5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39 the formula n * n + n + 41 yields a prime number. eg for n = 3 we get 3 * 3 + 3 + 41 = 9 + 3 + 41 = 53 a prime number. pretty compelling pattern! AI pattern recognition would conclude it is prime for all integers, but in fact it isnt for n = 40 and n = -41! eg for n = 40, we get 40 * 40 + 40 + 41 = 40 * (40 + 1) + 41 = 40 * 41 + 41 = (40 + 1 ) * 41 = 41 * 41, a composite number, not prime! the people pushing AI are people who have failed at human intelligence, eg Zuckerberg was a college dropout as was Bill Gates. Musk does have 2 technical degrees, but he started a phd and quit after a few days! yet the man has the gall to say that his AI will be as good as 8 phd students! but he doesnt know what a phd is! he thinks that phds are about answering very difficult exam questions, but in fact that isnt what a phd is about! a phd is about exploring truth, where you dont know what you will find, and a lot of the questions you ask you will find are bad questions. you cant parrot what others have said for a phd, as that is plagiarism, it has to be new ideas. all these billionaires are not truth seekers, they are just vain greedy dropouts, they arent intellectuals, but they try to tell us what intelligence is. of course its not them who will have the intelligence but their software, basically armchair intelligence. plato is the guy whose view was the physical world is flawed, but that the mind accesses a perfect ideal world. the mind accesses true meaning which is beyond this physical world. the physical world is a zombie realm, you can never have true intelligence from a machine, as it is trapped in the physical realm. whereas the mind is a portal to a divine realm beyond the physical plane.
