I would urge you to speak with Adam Becker, the author of "More Everything Forever" for an alternate point of view on all of this. So much of the apocalyptic thinking around AI is science fiction nonsense, easily debunked by science. There are real harms that AI is doing to humanity today that experts like Yudkowsky would have us ignore for some future moment where the robots kill us all. I'm not suggesting Mr. Soares and Mr. Yudkowsky don't believe in what they are saying, far from it, but I believe they have fallen into cult-like thinking that is not actually that helpful in the current moment.
