As someone who is very mediocre at drawing, who uses AI art to illustrate my worldbuilding projects, I can confirm that this is a 100% accurate representation of one half of the story.
The other half is that real art is actually made in the combination of the AI works into a larger cogesive story. It's like making a mixtape, but more involved. You don't make the individual songs, but you act as a producer and architect of the mixtape/album, and instruct the machine what each individual song should be, to tell an overarching story. I also don't use AI art purely because I am lazy. It is mostly because visual art is not my main skill, and I need that AI to be able to manifest my settings and characters into visual art.
If I can make money from my project I will happily employ a human artist, given they can deliver on par or better quality pictures than the AI, and accurately represent the mood, themes and feeling of my stories/worlds/settings. Until I can make any money off of my work, though, AI art is tue ideal tool for me to use.
