Here is a different perspective: pre-pandemic big tech companies were over hiring to get a competitive advantage. Covid-19 came, and then supply chain crisis, followed by wars, instability and fear. As the economy went to a recession, big tech laid off the over hires, but to keep investors calm, it changed the narrative into “AI is replacing humans”, because the advancements on GenAI were remarkable and revolutionizing.
