Every time automation is introduced, people claimed it would reduce the number of jobs. It NEVER has and never will. Automation only displaces simple jobs. We can't stop progress, but we can prepare people for it. Stop crying and work on solutions.
Visit the less affluent part of any city, and you will see that there will never be enough human labor to fix our crumbling world. Maybe some people will become fat and lazy, but many more will be even more creative than now. I'm ready to work with robots to build massive space stations and space mining facilities while tearing down crumbing cities and building underground living and transportation so that the topside can be more natural. We could travel anywhere and not even have to carry luggage, because everything, including clothes, will be provided wherever you go. Air travel can be made 99.9999% safer, because the only reason it is unsafe now, is because of the profit incentive that cuts safety.
