Currently we can make a very good librarian. Not a full persons mind.
They can have only a single purpose to fulfill. But they still cannot stop creating imaginary situations unasked being a totally probability model of natural language. The same probability just creates unreal situations to fulfill the model it uses to choose the next word, sentence, paragraph. Because current ai have zero understanding what it is producing. It is just a chain of probable words it Receives and probable words to reply with. Zero meaning. Just numbers.
