Not a lawyer but I will repeat an opinion from one I know that really put into perspective for me how sloppy everything was even before the double down.
"The weird thing to me about the chatbot brief is that legal research is actually pretty easy? I mean, headnotes! Very straightforward citation formats for.... everything! (As much as people complain about Blue Book citation format, it really does cover just about everything). Sure, understanding the material is not always easy, and writing about it is awful (I still have nightmares about IRAC), which is why lawyers go to school forever and get paid big bucks, but finding it is the easiest part.
