I love Deepfakes, They’re wacky and fun. Sure they can be used for “Harmful” or “Bad” purposes but i seriously don’t think that’s too big of an issue. Like seriously, If Deepfakes can impact an election then theres a lot more and worse things that is wrong.
It would probably be super easy for the government or a company to make an algorithm that distinguish real vs Deepfaked videos because Deepfakes is essentially just a mask of a person slapped onto another persons body.
This all boils down to the same arguments like “Video games bad” “VPN bad” because the government wants to be in control and regulate absolutely everything.
