Regarding competition, if Tesla gets versatile enough for everywhere and with a purpose built vehicle, Waymo is a goner unless they can rapidly retool to something similar and it seems all their people have gone home. Waymo is not at all suited or scale and I'm guessing their current operations lose quite a bit of money. Cruise lost exotic amounts. As a techie I can't make sense of why Waymo has just accepted such a massive costly sensor package. Even if they were sure lidar was the way they should have developed a dirt cheap version which is very possible. Laser light and timing electronics costs nothing. But a huge lab package on an extinct car... I think at some level Waymo is expecting to die. They are clearly not in it to win it.
White seats is a bold choice for a public car, I'm guessing they'll change that unless they are super coated somehow. It looks good but new pants with cheap die stains them badly.
