I will rant. Technical skill and self-expression are two very different things. It is unfortunate that the word "art" has been used to encapsulate both. I do want to tell stories - but at the same time, I just don't want to be an artist by profession or even as a hobby. I just want to deliver a single message and get it over with and get on with my life. But I also understand that humans respond better to visuals - not text or speech or charts. I see technical skills in art as a language skill and not *inherently* an expression of the soul. Technical skills in art are not an expression of "humanity" unless someone chooses to use it as such. It is just a language - nothing more. Otherwise, technical skill would not be sought after in advertising and marketing. Are shampoo commercials an expression of the human experience? Learning to draw is not learning to express yourself. It is learning technical skills strong enough to *elicit* an emotional response. I can't use my emotional state alone to learn how to draw anatomy. If one's anatomy skills cannot be recognized even crudely as anatomy, it will not be seen "meaningful". Transmission fail. Also, everyone is different when it comes to art consumption. I consider something "art" if it gets an emotional reaction out of me, regardless of origin. So I count sunsets as art. I can see random arrangements of trash on the street as "art" if my heart is in the right place. There have been animated shows whose premises intrigued me so much, but aspects of the art style irked me so hard, I refuse to watch it. I can hardly draw myself. I don't want to look at my own shiz. I will still say that if someone else's content does not demonstrate sufficient technical skill for my liking and also fails to ignite my monkey brain, I will struggle to appreciate it without some dishonesty. I am just not a real artist and nor do I have an artist's "heart", That's where AI comes in. I don't someone else's "meaning". I want it's technical skill to trigger my monkey brain. I am just picky. Also, unless an AI can reproduce an exact copy of someone else's art, which it won't, then it's not stolen. It's derivative. The only thing it is stealing is possible business.
