This “blue blood” commenter exactly shows why as a society we need to stop using the word “talent” when in fact, we mean “skill”. The word talent gives the speaker the ability to pass off the responsibility of learning, because talent is something you’re “born with”. So obviously if they aren’t born with it, it is easier to just say someone is talented instead of acknowledging the time and effort and struggle that went into becoming good at something. Whereas to use the word skill, is to admit that there was effort, time, etc put into the task. And therein, by using skill not talent, they are admitting that they have not done the work.
So of course people who favor AI will use self excusing terms, like the “blue blood” comment because it excuses them from the responsibility and the admission that they just didn’t put into the work. And therefore absolving them from any possible inner shame they may feel surrounding it.
