This news interview conflated two issues. One issue is using an actor's likeness without consent. That's obviously a copyright violation and there are already laws on the books to address that. The other issue is using AI to create cinema quality movies without using any actor's likeness. Will those AI movies chip away at Hollywood's dominance? Trying to regulate that seems to be a violation of the First Amendment; it won't work legally. Embrace the technology, don't fight it.
