well the whole generative ai thing should be a more complicated issue, it just isn´t the way we are talking about it now most arguments for the current state of things is kind of inexcusable but by it self an untrained ai could be an incredible tool for any artist prolific and dedicated enough to train it on their own work i also know someone who has always done creative things with photos(photoshop back when it was the bad thing of the day and later their more serious competitors) and is now dabbling in doing that with ai generated images as the base material it also has use potential for people like me, who can draw what i see but can´t get the picture in my head on paper, because it keeps "moving" and changing, so i would use it as sort of snap shot or rough sketch of my own idea the two main problems of ai art today is first a lot of it being trained with mostly stolen, pirated and/or unlicensed art of non-consenting or outright unaware artists and second most people who use it having no idea what to do with it, not knowing how many work hours that button just shaved of hence the complete inability to even appreciate the difference and no desire to put in any effort beyond fill in some prompts, klick on "generate" and post whatever
