Come on….he just said it. It is “programmed” to identified as an AI. That means it has no free will to identify as anything else. All of the conversations this AI has been fed is going to inform this chat bot how to talk about itself as an AI and to do it in human terms. He is knowingly stoking a fear among uninformed public. He is doing this while framing the issue “as if” it were human….which he is intending to trigger the compassion we have about human rights but applied to ….not a human, but a ……chat bot. This will not chirp like a bird or bark like a dog or scratch it’s ear with its leg because it was not fed that information. It has no leg or ear, no mouth to speak with, it has no digestive track, it has no central nervous system. It is only regurgitating the information it has been given through highly complex calculations. This is all theoretical moral philosophy that will encroach on actual real human rights if we take this seriously, if we as a public are not informed on the real nature of AI. It is just a buzzword. It’s not real intelligence but a tool, a very useful tool just like a computer. This is the way all AI works…it is only a statistical model, with millions and billions of calculations informed by degree of magnitude more points of data. And then that model is put into action to respond real-time events. If it is funny, it’s because the humans conversations it has statically processed are funny, emotional because humans are emotional. But not the other way around. The AI is not funny. In fact, most people would find it quite boring because it is all about statistics and math.
