Is this about your girlfriend?” - "You know how I said they were on DeviantArt, and that they deactivated before I could take a screenshot.” - “I've known you since 2020” / “We have known each other for 4 years.” All this exposition is told, not shown, which is not how real people talk. This is the same mistake you see in cheap shows: “As you know, Bob, our wives are sisters…” Think about how you actually talk to friends. If your friend said: “Can I come clean about something?” - you wouldn’t reply with “Sure, bestie, I am always here to listen!” You’d just type “?”, “what?”, “yeah?”, “about what?” In real conversations, we don’t state our roles or exposition because both sides already know the dynamic. Those roles come across through quirks, jokes, and shared knowledge - not by saying “Sure, bestie” or “As you know, I told you they were on DeviantArt…” or “As you know, Bob, I’ve known you since 2020…” *Inconsistency of motivation* The friend’s stated goal is: “I need money for PC parts.” But why would that lead her to steal her close friend’s art? She could have taken someone else’s, or even made her own sketches and run them through AI. The results weren’t even polished (watermarks left intact), so why target a friend specifically? If the friendship history mattered, you’d expect her to avoid hurting them, not use them. But ok, maybe she just didn't care about their friend? But if she didn’t care about her friend’s feelings, why come clean at all? Confessing doesn’t get her closer to her goal (money). She could have just created another account and targeted another artist. Her actions actively contradict her own motivation.
