Just as all power comes from the people. All demand ultimately comes from the people. If more and more work is automated, letting "them" starve is not even an option. Who's gonna buy all the automatically produced stuff? So I don't think UBI is any kind of extreme. We don't even have self-driving cars, yet. When we do, we'll see riots very soon, though.
