Difference is, the 30,000 that died could have controlled the outcome. If your self driving vehicle goes on the fritz, you have zero control. To a horrible driver, that would be worth it. To a good driver however, it is not worth it. It's like socialism of driving ability. Why would an excellent driver want to downgrade?
