I have a different pro-AI argument for you… We can use AI to replace what corporations used to do for us as artists. We can shatter gatekeeping and take the creative space back. We have always had the better ideas. Corporations have only been overworking, overediting, overbearing, and ripping the heart and soul out of art for decades. But by virtue of having turned art into an Industry, they have also created a space where they get to decide the haves and the have nots. Who does and doesn’t get the respect their art deserves. Policing which artists work with who and if you don’t do what the industry wants, you have to do literally every aspect of your big creative passions all to yourself… I write novels. I am a storyteller. I’ve tried but my hands and brain can’t do the visual art thing. I can see things in my head but the very skills that make me an excellent storyteller make me a terrible artist. So if I want concept art for my pieces, I lack the skill to make them myself. I then have to fish through the sea of people selling commissions and hope that it isn’t some prompt generated nonsense I could have made myself. BUT! If I use AI to supplement in my projects in talents that I lack, then when artists that love my concept but hate the AI art come along, I can offer them in on the project to replace the AI. They will have already shown that they want to work on my project because they like the concept and thus cooperation and teamwork should be rather simple. No one taking the gig because they simply feel they have to in order to pay the bills. Just going through a bunch of creative projects that interest you and then offering your talents to someone else who understands the need for passion in the field. Why draw with no passion or skill when I can supplant just one of those two factors and then later bring in someone who can supplant the other one and really bring my project to life. We could have a new renaissance!
