This has really opened my eyes to the issue going on here. Never personally used an AI art generator, but have thought about it, and this has changed my mind. Thank you. If the art being used to create the models these AI run on was copyright-free or specifically made for the purpose of training AI, that would be a different story. Taking advantage of artists without even so much as a tip of the hat their way is something else entirely.
