The almost zero companies that are actually laying people off and invested in AI, are laying people off because they invested in AI. It's not because AI is doing employees jobs or helping fewer employees do the job of more employees. It is only because that company invested in AI and it has to show real, tangible results to its shareholders. The AI itself is worthless and doesn't actually do anything, and they know it.
