I think it’s cool (HEAR ME OUT) that we are at a point where AI can do this, from a technological standpoint alone. It’s pretty damn cool that we have computer generated computer generated images (repeated words are intentional). Like, kudos to the programmers because I’d have no IDEA where to start with animation and AI. No longer will I be discussing this from the perspective of “this is actually kinda cool”. We are now in the area of “this is actually kinda cool… but I hate it so much.” Animation 1 is lifeless. She literally is doing 👁️👁️. Words cannot express that blank stare but those emojis do wonders. Animation 2 literally is traditional AI stolen art paste mush whatever. The airplane scene looked so bad. It looks so smudgy. Idk how else to explain it. I could get behind animation 1 if it was just “we showed the AI poses and it put the model into the pose naturally with maybe some f ups but we need to go in and do details like. The face.” Or maybe an AI that gets the polygons for the mouth and a script and puts the mouth in the right positions: tools, not replacement. And yes, I’d rather have AI do the mundane work so I can do my art, not the other way around, but that sort of tool would be pretty useful imho ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ TLDR: huge fan of technological advancements and this is a kinda impressive one but also it steals from artists and looks so bad. why did they angry birds movie up the generic birds.
